Bear Essential Strength teaches, motivates, and entertains.

Learn and Relearn

This weekend was the National Strength and Conditioning Association Southeast Regional Conference. Strength coaches, fitness professionals, athletes, personal trainers, you name it they were there. Hosted by Gary Schofield, the NSCA Southeast Regional Coordinator and Head Strength Coach for Greater Atlanta Christian School, who did a great job. It was a great turn out. A ton of people were there, most likely because the speakers were top notch. It was an all day event of lectures dropping knowledge bombs, vendors talking squat racks and supplements, and mingling making connections. To some this may be about as exciting as driving in traffic. To me this was going to Toys R Us at the age of 8. Needless to say, I was pumped.

Here is a list of the lectures I listened to:
Atlanta Falcons Performance Testing
by A.J. Neibel, CSCS
Movement Screening for the High School & Collegiate Athlete
by Gary Schofield, Jr. ATC/L, CSCS,*D and Mike Martino, PhD, CSCS, CBRC, CES
The Science of Recover- Getting the Scoop on Sports Nutrition and the Workout Recovery
by Marie Spano, MS, CSCS
Cracking the Neural Code- The Future of Coaching
by Guido Van Ryssegem, MS, ATC/R, CSCS, NBFE, RN and Nick Winkelman, MSc, CSCS,*D, USAW, USATF
Evaluating Overhead Athletes: New Ways to Look at the Same Old Problems
by Eric Cressey, MA, CSCS
