Chicken Parm From Lady Bear

A Recipe From the Lady Bear

Feeding the hungry bear can be a difficult thing. Chicken Parmesan is an easy dinner to make and sure to please. It can be a quick and easy dinner, especially if there are two people to help. I recommend cooking the chicken in an iron skillet. It allows you to use one dish to cook the chicken, which means one less dish to wash!

How To Find The Right Gym For You

Question: How do I find the right gym for me?

Simple Answer: Make sure they have the right equipment for what you want to accomplish, in a safe/clean environment, that is easily accessible when you need it.

Complex Answer: Personally, I would much rather just have everything I need in the garage to lift. Sure buying all that equipment is expensive, but you only really need the essentials. If you add up your monthly gym dues over the course of a couple years, you can justify your purchase to turn your garage into a bear cave gym. I will get into details on how to accomplish that in a future article.

So maybe you don't have a garage or spare room you can transform. And to you, having a squat rack as a headboard in your bedroom doesn't seem

A Peak Into Programing

Failing to plan is planning to fail. We'v all heard this. Only some of us actually listen. Here is a peak into how one can plan their lifting routine. Keep in mind there are many, many, many different ways to program. As long as you have a reason behind what you are doing, then you are golden. You can always adjust. The great ones adjust. Here is an example lift for one day:

A: Speed Deadlifts
B1: Push Press
    B2- MB slams
    B3- Band Face Pulls
C1: Back Extension
C2: BB Curls

There are many reasons why to plan a lift this way, and I will try to give you some insight into why.

The Lady Bear is getting her training in:

Start with speed deadlifts. The point of this exercise is to do the lift at a light weight, while moving the bar in a quick and explosive manner. You can be more explosive at 70% of your max weight. This will

Crunches Don't Work For Fat Loss

Guess what? Crunches, sit-ups, planks, dead bugs, super crunch 3000, insert new and “improved” core exercise here, do NOT remove your round flub, that you want to get rid of so bad. Okay. I’m sorry I was so up front and blunt. But, I am starting to freak out. I picked up a “fitness” magazine the other day, with a cut up girl on the cover with washboard abs. The title underneath said “7 secrets to get a flat stomach”. I flipped to the article. It was literally 7 different variations of crunches and sit-ups. Lies.

Best Motivational Video

Motivation is huge. Especially when it comes to training. You need to save this link on your computer or phone and play it before you go to the gym or do what you do. It will get you motivated to move some weight and get out of the cave.

Gain Muscle Lose Fat

Dear BES,

I weigh 196 pounds. I probably have 15 pounds of fat to lose. Everyone knows the whole: less in vs. more out, 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat, guidelines, but where is the balance
when trying to lose fat while gaining muscle? I'm lifting 4 times/week for probably 30 minutes per session, so not really burning it up. Haven't been doing a lot of cardio, but certain lifting days definitely get the heart rate up and sweat rolling compared to others. How do I know I'm feeding my muscles enough without eating too much and hampering fat loss? Or, am I over-thinking this?

Thanks,
Cold in Minnesota

Hey Cold in Minnesota,

You are over thinking. Everyone wants to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. It's an

The Iron Never Lies To You

"The iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you're a god or a total bastard. The iron will always kick you the real deal. The iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found the iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But, two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.” - Henry Rollins

Lots Of Protein

While the quantity of calories are more important than the quality of calories, there is one type of macro-nutrient you need to get plenty of if you’re trying to bulk: protein. Protein

Sleep At Least 8 Hours A Night

One of the most common mistakes I see people make is that they focus only on diet and exercise. Diet and exercise are important, but they are not all you need in order to gain

Basic Big Movements

The first thing you need to do to build muscle is exercise. Specifically, you need to lift heavy weights. The idea behind weight
training is simple: when you left heavy weights and stress your muscles, you create micro-tears in your muscle fibers. Assuming you have a good diet and rest properly, your body will spend the next few days preparing those muscles. When it repairs those muscles, it makes them stronger than they were before. Gradually, after many weeks of doing this, your muscles will become significantly larger than they were before. However, none of this happens if you aren’t stressing your muscles. That's why going to the gym is so important. It is possible to build muscle exclusively with bodyweight exercises, but it is much more difficult than it is by lifting weights.  So if you're serious about building muscle, getting a gym membership is a good idea. So what should you do at the gym?
